Like most if not all TV dinner mashed potatoes, I think the potatoes were instant judging from both taste and texture. Adding butter improved the taste, but it didn’t mask the 'water' flavor or make them taste any more 'real'. Granted, it was a prepackaged butter tab from Golden Corral that had been in the refrigerator. Likewise TV Dinner corn never really fails to be utterly unimpressive, chewy and flavorless.

I didn’t leave the film over the corn like it said to though. I have in the past and it made no difference one way or the other. Though I will say that the chicken fried beef steak did impress me! It was tender, and dare I say had 'attitude'. I note that there was pepper on either the meat or in the gravy that it sat in, which was equally tasty.

YUCK! My partner and I have completely cut out tv dinners. I can honestly say I don't miss them. When you are young these kind of dinners won't kill you, but when you are my age (44) the saturated fats, sodium, and high calories lead to high cholesterol (heart attacks), high blood pressure (strokes), diabetes (blindness, runaway infections, etc), gas and terrible heartburn. So enjoy it while you can my young friend.

I don't eat TV dinners often, but it was something that I could cook quickly. I can't imagine eating them frequently. Now Rice & pasta sides, those will be the death of me!
